Weekend home

Friday
Friday was an absolutely gorgeous fall day. Much like today, actually :) I thought it would be a good day to do an update on the new academic building on campus, since the sky was so blue and pretty and the leaves are all bright yellow.

It was pretty cool- as I was taking the picture, they started moving the crane around. I've never seen them use it for anything before. Usually it just kinda sits there. Apparently it's actually useful. The new building is looking pretty good, too. It's not just a skeleton any more.

Saturday
Fresh cut roses from Dad's rose garden!

I wish I could upload smells for you. They smell really good.

Sunday
More roses, because I really enjoy them.

And a (tiny) bonus picture of me and my sisters, back when we were small and liked each other. jk, we still like each other.

Monday
I forgot to take a picture on Monday. You can hardly blame me, though- my wicked long Foundations of Literary Criticism class spent TWO HOURS discussing Ferdinand De Saussure's Nature of the Linguistic Sign, and it basically melted my brain. You can find an overview here, if you're interested.

New Roses

Ok, I know I JUST posted about the Sweetness Rose, but this is really exciting for me. More of the roses have started blooming, and they looked lovely this morning with the rain drops clinging to them after last night/this morning's showers.

I thought this one was particularly lovely. I like the softness of the pinkwhite color, but I also think this fiery orange is really pretty:

I don't remember which types these two are, but I'll look it up and post them sometime in the next couple of days.

Roses!

Remember way back to my Weekend update post about Dad's rose bushes? We got our first blossom last night! A very exciting affair :) Mom found a cute little vase for it this morning:

Isn't it pretty? Looking at it straight on, you can hardly even see the vase, the bloom is so big!

This particular rose is a Sweetness Rose, and smells incredibly wonderful. I can't wait for more blooms :)

Weekend update

Saturday
Saturday I was home again for a bit, with the exciting news being these twigs sticking out of the bark on one side of our house:

Of course, they're not just any twigs- they're actually baby rose buses. For Father's Day/ his birthday last year, my sisters and I gave our dad some money to start a rose garden, something he had talked about but hadn't really started yet. This spring, we all picked out a few different varieties that we liked, and now we're waiting for flowers :)

Sunday
Sunday was lazy and relaxing, and the last semi-cool day before we got hit with this ridiculous heat wave. I got a picture of yet another construction site on campus:

Luckily, this one is on the other side of campus from where I live.

Monday
Monday I got some really cute pictures of some of the campus bunnies frolicking around, but now I can't seam to find them anywhere! I'm afraid I may have accidentally deleted them, but I'll keep looking in case I somehow saved them elsewhere and forgot about it.
